Sugar

I would like to open a proverbial can of worms… One of the silliest arguments I hear against artificial sweeteners is “studies show that they cause you to crave real sugar…” And to that I say, DUH!

Let’s ponder this for a moment. I’m depriving my body of real sugar, that it already craves by substituting it with the fake stuff. Hmmm… So of course you’re going to crave real sugar, that doesn’t mean you have to eat it. That’s the whole point of substituting it in the first place, especially if you’re trying to lose weight.

Sugar is converted to fat for storage when more calories are consumed than the body needs. So don’t tell me honey is a good sugar substitute because that is straight up SUGAR.

Now I understand that there are studies that show there can be serious side effects caused by artificial sweeteners, but obesity and diabetes are also sugar’s best friends. We can agree all things in moderation, right?

I think the real confusion with the phony stuff is that people think because they drank a diet soda they are then entitled to indulge in some chocolate or supersize their value meal, which in return typically means the consume more calories anyways.

I know for me personally I couldn’t manage my weight without artificial sweeteners. But if you think they’re the devil that’s your own purgative. So you do you and I’ll do me and maybe we cam meet somewhere in the middle.

Now it’s your turn to tell me why I’m wrong…
